Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Traveling Superintendent based in the Chicagoland area to lead commercial construction projects across regional locations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee commercial construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. The Traveling Superintendent will coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients, bringing expertise in construction management and site supervision. This position requires a proactive leader with excellent communication skills, technical knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional results in diverse environments. Travel is estimated roughly 50% of the time.

Duties

• Oversee and manage multiple commercial construction sites across different locations, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and safety standards
• Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, vendors, and construction crews to maintain productivity and quality control
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents to ensure accurate execution of plans
• Monitor project progress through detailed scheduling using Primavera P6 or similar construction management software
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
• Manage project budgets by tracking costs, reviewing contracts, and implementing effective cost-control measures
• Utilize tools such as ProCore, Bluebeam and construction estimating software for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes
• Supervise quality assurance processes by inspecting work for adherence to specifications and schematics
• Lead project meetings to coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and communicate progress to stakeholders
• Ensure proper use of testing equipment such as ohmmeters for electrical inspections and other technical assessments

Skills

• Extensive experience in commercial construction management with a proven track record of supervising large teams on multiple sites
• Strong knowledge of construction site safety protocols including OSHA standards
• Proficiency in project scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and Primavera; familiarity with construction management software such as ProCore and Bluebeam
• Skilled in reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings accurately
• Ability to interpret contracts and manage contractual obligations effectively
• Excellent management skills with the ability to supervise diverse teams while fostering collaboration and accountability
• Technical proficiency with tools such as ohmmeters for electrical work inspections
• Knowledge of pipeline projects or infrastructure-related construction is a plus
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
